Privacy policy

Who we are

Home Centre Green (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a furniture store at 110 Lancing Dr, Unit 2, Hamilton, ON L8W 3A1, Canada. This policy covers our website, orders placed online, by phone or by WhatsApp, and visits to our showroom.

We handle personal information in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Our team member responsible for privacy can be reached at info@homecentregreen.ca.

Information we collect

Information you give us

• Orders: your name, phone number, email address, delivery address, the products you choose and any delivery notes.
• Your account: your name, email address and password (stored only in encrypted, hashed form), your saved addresses, cart, wishlist and order history.
• Messages: what you send us through the contact form, by email, phone or WhatsApp, such as questions, room measurements or photos.
• Reviews: your name, star rating and the review you write. Reviews are checked by our team before they are published, and the name you give is shown next to them.

Information collected automatically

• Technical data: your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you visit, kept in our server logs to keep the site working and secure and to stop spam and fraud.
• Cookies: small files that keep you signed in and keep your cart and checkout secure. See Cookies below.

How we use it

• To confirm, prepare and deliver your order (and assemble it, if you ask us to), and to call you before delivery.
• To take payment for your order.
• To answer your questions and handle warranty claims, exchanges and returns.
• To run your account, cart and wishlist, and to apply promo codes.
• To publish the reviews you send us, after we check them.
• To keep our website secure, prevent fraud and meet our legal and tax obligations.

We use your information only for these purposes, or for another purpose you agree to. We only send you marketing emails or messages if you have asked for them, and every one includes a way to stop them.

Who we share it with

We never sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with:

• Service providers that help us run the store, such as our payment provider, website host and email service. They may use your information only to provide their service to us.
• Authorities, when the law requires it, for example for tax records or a valid legal request.
• A new owner of the business, if Home Centre Green is ever sold or merged, under the same protections described here.

Some of our service providers may store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessed by authorities under local law.

Our site links to and embeds services such as Google Maps and WhatsApp. When you use them, their own privacy policies apply.

Card payments

Card payments are handled by our payment provider. We never see or store your full card number, expiry date or security code. We keep only a record that the payment was made, such as its amount and date.

Cookies

We use cookies that the site needs to work: to keep you signed in, remember your session and protect forms and checkout from abuse. Your cart, wishlist and promo codes are saved securely in our database, not in your browser.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site, such as signing in and checking out, will not work without them.

How long we keep it

We keep order and payment records for as long as Canadian tax law requires, which is generally six years after the end of the tax year they relate to. We keep your account until you ask us to close it. Contact form messages are kept for as long as we need them to help you, and server logs for a short period.

When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.

How we protect it

Our whole site is encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are stored only in hashed form, access to customer information is limited to the team members who need it, and prices, discounts and delivery costs are calculated on our server. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever puts you at real risk of harm, we will tell you and report it as the law requires.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us at any time to:

• see the personal information we hold about you;
• correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
• delete your account or information we no longer need to keep by law;
• stop using your information for a purpose you agreed to before.

Email info@homecentregreen.ca and we will reply within 30 days. We may need to confirm who you are first. If you are not happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

Our website is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us their information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our store or the law changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed. If a change is important, we will also show a notice on the website.
